Trigger Point Therapy Sydney

Trigger points in our body are a hyperirritable spot in our body due to a stressed band of muscle fibers in your myofascial tissues which makes it tight and sensitive to a stimulus. The usual effect of this on your body is chronic pain, but it’s not really easy to determine which specific trigger point causes that pain. Fortunately, there is a trigger point therapy in Sydney that focuses on a wide area of your muscles and tissues to treat the pain caused by the trigger points in your body, and that is called “Myofascial Release”.

What are the Symptoms of Trigger Point Issues?

Other than not being able to find which specific trigger point causes the pain, it can also be very tricky to know whether it’s a trigger point that causes the body pain that you have been feeling. It is also possible that the area where you feel the pain is far from the source. That is why, most of the time, there’s a tendency that they can be mistaken as arthritis, tendonitis, or ligament injury.

Symptoms that you need trigger point Therapy:

  • Sudden pain that’s hard to explain

  • Earache

  • Pain in the joints

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Stress and Anxiety

  • Abnormal heartbeat

  • Dizziness

  • Heartburn, nausea, or indigestion

  • Congested sinus

  • Disturbance in sleeping

These symptoms are usually an effect of referred pain, which means that the pain you have been feeling is actually in a different spot from its source. With that, it is best to consult an expert like a trigger point therapist to determine the right treatment for you.

"I have been seeing Jo for a few ears for massage and most recently dry needling. She is very knowledgeable and really knows how to deal with quirky niggles and injuries. She has been helping me with a shoulder knee injury the last few sessions and it has truly made a big difference. I am sleeping better and able to walk for exercise now. Highly recommended Jo to anyone that’s looking for massage with a difference!"

What Our Customers Say

What Happens in a Trigger Point Therapy and Does it Work?

Usually, a myofascial release therapy in Sydney CBD is done at the same time while you are having massage therapy like deep tissue massage or remedial massage. Also, there are some traditional medical practitioners and chiropractors that might offer myofascial release therapy services. To be clear, myofascial release is a different technique compared to massage therapies like deep tissue massage and remedial massage. However, it is also often done during those massage therapies.

What happens in Myofascial release treatment

First, the therapist will give you a gentle massage around the myofascial area of your body and check for tight or stiff muscles. Then, your therapist will stretch and massage those areas in a light pressure manner. This process will simply be repeated until the tension and tightness on those trigger points ease fully.

Scientific way Trigger point therapy works

Trigger point therapy works by breaking the neurological and chemical cycle that is the reason for the tightness of your muscle fibers. Once the blood flow in the area of your trigger point improves, the knotted bands of muscle fibers will be relaxed and lengthened, which will ease you from the pain caused by those trigger points.
